In Q1 2026, the Russian pharmaceutical industry maintained an upward trend and demonstrated confident growth in value terms. The total production volume of finished medicinal products in Russia for the period reached RUB 267.7 billion (at manufacturer selling prices, including VAT), which is 14% more than in Q1 2025. Physical indicators are also growing. According to the database "Production of Medicinal Products in Russia" from the analytical company RNC Pharma, in the first three months of this year, domestic and foreign pharmaceutical enterprises located in our country released approximately 982.5 million packages of FMPs into civil circulation. In terms of minimum dosage units (MDU), this figure amounted to 20.8 billion units. Compared to the baseline period (Q1 2025), production growth was +9.2% in consumer packages and +5.6% in MDU.
In March 2026, the volume of FMPs produced in Russia amounted to 352.2 million packages or over 8 billion MDU. Comparable volumes in minimum dosage units were last recorded in March 2022. The monetary value of FMP shipments in March 2026 exceeded RUB 102.8 billion, which is 14.2% more than in the same month a year earlier.
Among the companies in the top hundred by physical production volume, the most impressive growth was noted at Infamed. Production of the MiraMistin and Okomistin brands increased 65-fold compared to Q1 2025, which is likely due to the specifics of the company's production schedule last year. In absolute terms, Ozon Pharmacevtika and Pharmstandard remain the leaders among players, together accounting for more than 15.8% of total production volume in the first three months of this year. However, the growth indicators of the companies differed. Pharmstandard showed long-term growth of +40.9% in packages, with growth noted in almost all of the company's top products, such as Citramon (+50% in packages), Activated Charcoal (up 2.5-fold), and others. Meanwhile, the leader — Ozon Pharmacevtika — recorded a decline in production volume of 14.9%, largely caused by a decrease in shipments of products such as Bisoprolol (-28.8%) and Amlodipine (-43.4%).
Interestingly, in the first three months of 2026, the OTC drug segment developed twice as fast as the prescription segment. Compared to Q1 2025, shipments of OTC FMPs increased by 12.9%, while production of Rx segment drugs showed growth of 5.9%. Such a situation was last recorded in 2022, when the OTC category grew by 7.2% while Rx lost 5.6%. It is noteworthy that from 2023 to 2025, the dynamics for OTC drugs were not only lower than for Rx but were characterized by negative values.
Within the TOP-30 brands leading in terms of physical production volume, most brands demonstrated significant shipment growth. The highest growth rate among them was shown by the antibiotic Ceftriaxone, which was produced by 10 companies during the reporting period, the key one being Deco — compared to Q1 2025, the total production volume of the drug increased 2.5-fold in packages. The opposite trend within the top thirty was recorded for the antihypertensive drug Enalapril — over the year, its production volume decreased by 40% in packages. Last year, only nine domestic suppliers of this drug were recorded, all of which showed a decrease in shipments. The main manufacturers of unbranded Enalapril are Renovation and Organika.
