According to RNC Pharma’s “Audit of Retail Sales of Medical Devices in Russia (total sell-out)”, the Russian retail market (including e-commerce) sold 1.56 million packages of synovial fluid prostheses for intra-articular injections in Q1–Q3 2025, totaling RUB 17.8 billion (in retail prices including VAT). Compared with January–September 2024, sales volume increased by 16.9%, while consumer spending grew by more than 25%. Robust growth — both in value and volume terms — has been recorded for several consecutive years: in 2024 vs. 2023, category sales rose 15.2% in packages and 23.2% in value, while the previous year saw +21.3% in volume and +27.3% in rubles.
As of the first nine months of 2025, the market featured 46 brands from 35 manufacturers. Over the past three years, six new products have entered the retail segment, including both foreign and domestic medical devices. Among them is the Indian-made Ortholon (sodium hyaluronate) by Contacare Ophthalmics and Diagnostics, launched two years ago — its sales doubled year-on-year, earning it 11th place in the ranking. Another recent entrant is Hiallong (Bioform, Russia), introduced in 2024 and based on sodium hyaluronate + mannitol.
Most synovial fluid prostheses are based on sodium hyaluronate, though their share has been steadily declining. In Q1–Q3 2025, these products (including combinations) accounted for about 70% of total sales volume, compared to over 85% three years ago. Meanwhile, collagen-containing products have been steadily gaining market share.
The market leader in value terms remains Flexotron (MKNT Import), whose sales grew by +36% in value and +24% in volume compared with Q1–Q3 2024. The product has demonstrated strong growth for several consecutive years.
Chronotron (MKNT Import, Italy), the only product on the market based on polynucleotides, climbed from third to second place, showing +54% value growth. Armaviskon (Groteks, Russia) dropped to third, with 8% of market value and a 49% decline in sales — continuing a downward trend that began in 2023, when the brand lost its former leadership position.
Almost all brands in the top 10 demonstrated strong positive dynamics, with some posting multi-fold growth. For example, sales of the collagen-based device Compositeon (MKNT Import, San Marino) tripled, while the Russian brand Hialject (FBK) doubled year-on-year.
