In 2025, 66.2 million vials of tinctures were sold in Russian pharmaceutical retail, amounting to approximately RUB 4.4 billion (at retail prices, including VAT). Compared to 2024, the physical sales volume decreased by 13.9%, while spending in the category increased by 23.4%. In 2025, the average price per vial of tincture in pharmacies reached RUB 67, demonstrating significant growth of 43% compared to the previous year. This is the highest average price growth for this category of drugs in recent years. The main reason for the sharp increase in the price of pharmacy tinctures last year was the introduction of an excise tax on the pharmaceutical substance ethyl alcohol. As a result, the popularity of tinctures as an alcohol substitute decreased in most Russian regions.
According to the "Retail Audit of Drug Sales in Russia (total sell out)" from the analytical company RNC Pharma, approximately 20% of the total monetary volume of the alcohol tincture market in 2025 came from Moscow, Moscow Oblast, and Krasnodar Krai. Although the monetary sales volume increased in almost all federal subjects due to the rising cost of these products, physical consumption increased in only two regions: Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (+9.3% in packages) and Vologda Oblast (+2.2%). It is worth noting that these Russian regions implement local anti-alcohol campaigns, including a number of restrictions on alcohol sales, which is clearly directly related to the growth in the consumption of alcohol substitutes, including through pharmacy tinctures.
The national average per capita consumption of alcohol-containing tinctures in 2025 was 440 packages per 1,000 people. Compared to 2024, this value decreased by approximately 14%. Based on the results of last year, first place in per capita consumption is occupied by the Republic of Crimea, where an average of 785 packages per 1,000 people were purchased during 2025. Second and third positions are held by Tver Oblast and Pskov Oblast, where approximately 718 and 701 thousand packages per 1,000 people were sold in pharmacies last year. Notably, the regions with the maximum decline in per capita consumption in 2025 were Perm Krai (-32%) and Sevastopol (-29%). Interestingly, based on the results of January–February 2026, the largest decline was shown by the Chuvash Republic (-60% compared to January–February 2025), where only 60 vials per 1,000 people were consumed over the two months. In Perm Krai, the figure did not exceed 83 packages per 1,000 people, a reduction of 40% over the year. The lowest per capita consumption volumes of alcohol tinctures are recorded in the Chechen Republic, where the indicator has not exceeded 8 vials per 1,000 people for the past two years. It is worth noting that this federal subject has some of the most stringent regional restrictions on the retail sale of alcoholic beverages.
During the reporting period, sales of alcohol tinctures from 33 manufacturers were recorded on the pharmacy market. The top five largest companies account for more than 60% of the total revenue in the category. Based on the results of last year, the lead was taken by the domestic company Begrif from Novosibirsk Oblast, which was the only one in the TOP-5 to show growth in the physical sales volume of its products (+4.6%), with ruble growth recorded at +60%. Second place is held by Flora Kavkaza (-3.9% in rubles), and third place is occupied by the Kirov Pharmaceutical Factory (+22.7%).
