The Russian pharmaceutical industry maintained a steady upward trend at the beginning of 2026, demonstrating confident growth in both monetary and physical terms. From January to April 2026, the total production volume of finished medicinal products (FMPs) in the country reached RUB 332.8 billion (at manufacturer selling prices including VAT), which is 15.3% higher than the results of the same period last year. According to the database "Production of Medicinal Products in Russia" from the analytical company RNC Pharma, during the reporting period, Russian and foreign enterprises located in our country released approximately 1.33 billion consumer packages of FMPs into civil circulation, which in terms of minimum dosage units (MDU) amounted to 28.3 billion units. Compared to January–April 2025, production growth was 6.4% in packages and 5.3% in MDU.

In April 2026, Russian FMP production showed divergent dynamics in physical terms against the backdrop of a significant increase in financial indicators. Total shipments for the month exceeded RUB 89.4 billion, which is 18.9% more than in April 2025. At the same time, physical production volumes amounted to 347 million consumer packages, which is 0.9% lower than last year's result. However, when calculated in minimum dosage units, production increased by 4.6%, exceeding 7.4 billion units.

The market leaders in terms of production volume remain Ozon Pharmacevtika and Pharmstandard; notably, the companies showed opposite dynamics. Pharmstandard recorded long-term growth in physical volumes of +51% in packages. Growth affected almost the entire key assortment, with the largest contribution coming from a multiple increase in the production of Corvalol (3.5-fold) and Activated Charcoal (2.5-fold). Ozon Pharmacevtika, despite maintaining first place in the ranking, showed a decrease in production volumes of 17%, largely due to a reduction in the output of products such as Atorvastatin (-10.5%) and Bisoprolol (-32.9%).

In the top ten corporations by physical production volume, half of the players showed positive annual growth. The highest growth rate was shown by the Research Institute of Medicine and Standardization (NII MiS), which increased production 3.5-fold. The portfolio of this organization is formed primarily of alcohol-containing drugs, with the key driver of such significant growth this year being salicylic acid alcohol solution.

High growth rates were also demonstrated by Velfarm Group (+43%), with growth drivers being Ibuprofen tablets and Omeprazole capsules (in capsules), whose production increased fivefold. A noticeable increase in physical volumes was also recorded at Grotex (+22%). The main contribution to this result came from the nasal spray Tramicent, which showed fivefold growth, as well as the leading brands — Sodium Chloride (+36%) and the vasoconstrictor Xyloct (+80%).
