According to the results of Q1-Q2 2025, 5.5 million medical thermometers were sold on the Russian retail market (including online channels) for a total of 1.7 billion rubles (at retail prices, including VAT). According to information from the database “Audit of retail sales of medical equipment in Russia (total sell out)” by the analytical company RNC Pharma, sales of thermometers increased compared to January-June 2024, both in terms of ruble volume (+7%) and in natural units (+6%). It should be noted that in 2024, there was a decline in consumption in physical terms (-2.4%), as in the previous year, due to the high base in 2022. In total, in 2024, Russians purchased 11.2 million thermometers worth 3.5 billion rubles.

In the first half of 2025, approximately 89.6% of the physical volume of the analyzed devices was purchased in traditional retail outlets. The monetary share of offline sales in the reporting period reached 85.4%. Despite the absolute dominance of the classic format, sales volumes in the e-commerce segment are increasing every year, even if it’s slowly. Compared to Q1-Q2 2024, the online share grew by only 1 percentage point (p.p.) in terms of packaging and by 1.5 p.p. in terms of rubles.

It should be noted that analog devices are still in high demand on the market, accounting for about 61% of the retail market's natural volume, with almost all of them being purchased offline (in pharmacies). Mercury devices are particularly popular, as they are much more convenient to use than thermometers based on gallium alloys. However, the overall market dynamics were driven by electronic and infrared thermometers, with actual sales growing by 13% and 16% respectively over the year.

A significant volume of thermometers in retail is sold as no-name products, accounting for approximately 25% of sales in packages and 23% in rubles in January-June of this year. Most of them are analog devices. Among branded thermometers, the Swiss brand B.Well remains the leader — in Q1-Q2 2025, this brand accounted for 14.6% of sales in rubles, demonstrating sales growth of 6.5%, while actual consumption of products decreased by 0.4%. The Russian brand Thermopribor from the company of the same name took second place in the reporting period (12.8% share in rubles). Over the year, the natural consumption of the domestic brand grew by 13.9%, but the ruble volume decreased by 4.6%. Third and fourth place went to devices from the US (Amrus) and Japan (A&D). These brands showed significant growth compared to January-June last year, at +59.4% and 49.4% in rubles, respectively.

The Chinese product “CS Medica” showed the highest growth among the top ten brands, with sales increasing almost twofold in monetary terms and threefold in terms of packaging. Outside the top ten, significant growth was also seen in Chinese products from Honsun and Qumo Health (both with a sevenfold increase in sales), but the share of these brands does not yet exceed 0.01% of the total monetary volume. Overall, US and Japanese manufacturers are exerting significant pressure on the market this year through active marketing, resulting in a 1 p.p. decline in the total share of Chinese manufacturers relative to Q1-Q2 2024 to 6.5% in rubles. In addition, the share of unbranded products, most of which are also produced in China, has also decreased.
