The Russian retail market for gout treatment drugs has demonstrated confident growth. This year, a reduction in the presence of certain foreign brands and rapid sales growth of a number of domestic drugs have been observed.

In the first eight months of 2026, the Russian retail market for gout treatment drugs (group M04A) recorded an increase in both physical and value volumes. From January to August, consumers purchased 7.5 million packages of such drugs, with total spending reaching RUB 3.3 billion (at retail prices, including VAT). Compared to the same period last year, physical demand increased by 10%, while monetary turnover showed more pronounced upward dynamics, exceeding 25%. These figures align with the long-term trend: over the past three years, the average annual growth in value and physical consumption volumes has been in double digits. In 2025, the market volume of anti-gout drugs amounted to RUB 4.1 billion, corresponding to the sale of more than 10.5 million packages. At that time, annual market dynamics were +27.3% in monetary terms and +13.3% in physical terms.

According to the "Retail Audit of Drug Sales in Russia (total sell out)" from the analytical company RNC Pharma, the dominant position in the physical consumption structure is occupied by allopurinol-based products, accounting for more than 86% of packages sold. In January–August 2026, the assortment structure in the category included about 40 SKUs from 20 manufacturers. Leadership in financial revenue has been retained for the second consecutive year by the drug Milurit (INN allopurinol) from Egis (Servier Group), which accounts for 27.7% of total sales in the group. Second place in the ranking is occupied by Adenuric (INN febuxostat) with a 16.5% share. Third place is held by unbranded Allopurinol from five different manufacturers (with the key player being the domestic company Avexima), collectively accounting for 14.6% of the market in monetary terms. Pronounced upward dynamics were demonstrated by the brand Colchicine from the Moscow Pharmaceutical Factory: its ruble sales increased by 96%, allowing the brand to rise to fourth place with a 12.7% share. In contrast, the Austrian drug Colchicum-Dispert (containing meadow saffron seed extract) from Pharmaselect International demonstrated a negative trend, with sales decreasing by 43% and the brand dropping to seventh place. The TOP-5 is rounded out by unbranded Febuxostat, manufactured by six enterprises, with the main supplier being the Russian company Severnaya Zvezda. Interestingly, all of them are growing quite dynamically, by 64% compared to the same period last year.

Negative dynamics in the top ten brands were also demonstrated by febuxostat-based drugs — Febufort from Izvarino Pharma and Azurix from Binnopharm Group. During the reporting period, they lost 25% and 3%, respectively.
