Per capita consumption of drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in Moscow is noticeably lower than in some less populated regions. It is also interesting that, based on the results of the first seven months of 2026, the main growth in pharmacy sales in the country was provided by domestic manufacturers against the backdrop of pronounced stagnation in the imported segment.
In January–August 2026, the retail market for erectile dysfunction drugs (group G04E) demonstrated pronounced positive dynamics, reaching a volume of RUB 7.2 billion (at retail prices, including VAT). This exceeds the figures for the same period last year by 11% in monetary terms, while physical sales volume was recorded at nearly 10.2 million packages, reflecting more moderate dynamics of 2% year-on-year. In total for 2025, pharmacy sales in this segment amounted to 15.3 million packages with a total value of more than RUB 10.1 billion, showing balanced growth of 12% in rubles and 7% in packages compared to 2024.
It is important to note that sales growth during the reporting period was almost entirely provided by local manufacturers. According to the "Retail Audit of Drug Sales in Russia (total sell out)" from the analytical company RNC Pharma, in January–August 2026, sales of domestic drugs for the treatment of potency disorders increased by 14% in monetary terms, with physical consumption growing by 3%. At the same time, the imported drug segment showed stagnation: ruble volume increased by only 2%, and physical sales in packages actually decreased by 2%.
In the first eight months of 2026, the national average consumption level in the category was recorded at 67 packages per 1,000 residents, which is 2% higher than in the same period last year. The leader in per capita consumption was Moscow Oblast, where sales volume exceeded 90 packages per 1,000 people, showing 4% growth compared to the same period in 2025. Second place in the regional ranking was taken by Krasnodar Krai with 89.6 packages per 1,000 residents (+2%). Third place was occupied by Perm Krai, where 88.2 packages per 1,000 citizens were sold; however, a 2% decline in consumption was recorded here. The top five are rounded out by Amur and Tyumen Oblasts, showing positive demand dynamics of 2% and 3%, respectively.
High consumption levels in the leading federal subjects are typically driven by two factors: high household incomes and the level of tourism development. These factors ensure the leading positions of Moscow Oblast and Krasnodar Krai. Additional factors include chronic stress, heavy labor, and unfavorable climate in the industrial and northern regions of our country.
In Moscow, the per capita consumption level in January–August 2026 was 79.4 packages per 1,000 people. Notably, back in 2022, the capital held fifth place in the national ranking for this indicator. The relatively low level of drug consumption in Moscow is most likely explained by the popularity of preventive medicine, as well as the use of dietary supplements based on vitamin and amino acid complexes or animal and plant extracts, and other biohacking technologies. In Saint Petersburg, per capita demand during the same period was higher than in Moscow, reaching 82.1 packages per 1,000 people.
At the opposite pole of the statistics, the Chechen Republic recorded the absolute minimum sales in the country, amounting to only 10.5 packages per 1,000 citizens. Similar figures are characteristic of other North Caucasus regions: the Republic of Ingushetia (13.5 packages per 1,000 people) and the Republic of Dagestan (24.5 packages).
