From January to July 2026, 5.65 million doses of veterinary vaccines for pets were sold on the Russian retail market for a total of RUB 3.8 billion (at retail prices, including VAT). The physical dynamics compared to the same period in 2025 were recorded at the lowest level in the past three years — +1.4%. Ruble indicators, on the contrary, are breaking all previous records: compared to January–July 2025, sales in the category increased by 41.4%. For comparison, in 2025 we recorded synchronized growth in physical and monetary consumption volumes, with the growth rate in doses being 12.3% compared to 2024, and the ruble growth recorded at 16.7%.
This year, consumption dynamics were largely constrained by the inflationary factor. According to the "Retail Audit of Veterinary Drug Sales in Russia (total sell out)" from the analytical company RNC Pharma, the Laspeyres price index for the category compared to January–July 2025 reached 46%. Generally, vaccine prophylaxis products for pets remain one of the most problematic groups in the veterinary market in terms of price growth. The upward inflation cycle here began as early as the beginning of last year, and in June–July 2025, the maximum price index levels of 74% and 68% were recorded, respectively. The situation began to stabilize only by mid-summer of this year. As of January–July 2026, the average price per dose of pet vaccines on the Russian retail market was RUB 667, which is 39% higher than a year earlier.
The absolute leader in the retail market of veterinary vaccines for small domestic animals is currently the domestic company Vetbiokhim. In the first 7 months of 2026, the company accounted for 72.6% of the physical volume of the retail market and nearly 69% of sales in terms of monetary volume in the category. At the same time, physical sales (in doses) compared to January–July 2026 decreased by nearly 6%, with a 30% growth in monetary sales volume. Second place is occupied by the Czech company Bioveta, which accounts for 18.7% of ruble sales and 10% of physical sales in the group. It is virtually the undisputed leader in terms of dynamics — over the year, ruble sales volume increased 4.3-fold, almost entirely driven by physical expansion of sales, with comparable dynamics in doses (4.2-fold). Rounding out the top three is the American Zoetis, which currently holds a 6.3% ruble share and 8.9% dose share, with sales also growing quite dynamically (+63% in rubles and +28% in doses).
Among the TOP-10 veterinary vaccine products, 7 products are represented by Vetbiokhim's assortment, with the ranking led by two of the company's combination drugs: Multikan-8 for dogs and Multifel-4 for cats. However, given the serious problems in animals after the use of certain batches of Multikan-8, which were recorded in August 2026, the situation may change significantly. Much will depend on the official position and further steps of the manufacturer. Competitors will naturally not miss the opportunity to capitalize on the situation in their promotional strategies.
