In 2025, residents of our country spent over RUB 21 billion on enzyme preparations (group A09A - digestive aids) on the retail market (at retail prices, including VAT). Over the year, pharmacies sold nearly 75.6 million packages. Compared to 2024, Russian spending on the analyzed products increased by 15.9%, while sales in physical units grew by only 1%. A year earlier, the physical dynamics were even negative (-2% compared to 2023), although the monetary sales volume has been consistently growing for several years. In total, by the end of 2024, 74.8 million packages of enzyme preparations worth RUB 18.3 billion were purchased at retail (+12.4% in rubles). The beginning of the new year for the analyzed category is not very favorable so far. According to the database "Retail Audit of Drug Sales in Russia (total sell out)" from the analytical company RNC Pharma, in January 2026, Russians purchased 6.6 million packages of digestive aids amounting to over RUB 1.9 billion. Compared to the first month of 2025, sales decreased, both in rubles (-0.2%) and in packages (-8.7%).

In 2025, the physical volume of enzyme preparation consumption decreased in most regions of our country, while spending on these drugs increased in absolutely all federal subjects. In several regions of the country, the monetary sales volume increased by more than 20%, including Vologda Oblast and Kursk Oblast. Also, in recent years, there has been a steady shift in consumer demand towards the e-com channel with delivery to the consumer in this category. In 2025, sales here increased by 44%, with a pronounced shift towards the premium segment in the structure of online purchases – more expensive products are mainly being delivered.

Regional characteristics of drug consumption often depend on the population size and income levels in the region. Consumers in the capital tend to choose more expensive drugs; for example, Creon (Abbott) accounts for over 41% of the group's monetary turnover in the region, although nationally it does not exceed 32%. In total, Muscovites spent over RUB 2 billion on enzyme preparations. The second and third places in terms of spending among all regions in the past year were occupied by Moscow Oblast and Krasnodar Krai, where residents purchased such products worth RUB 1.6 billion and RUB 1 billion, respectively.

The level of per capita spending is also quite variable depending on the region, but Moscow is far from the leader here. The highest volume of spending on enzyme purchases was recorded in Moscow Oblast, where the average amount spent per person on enzyme products in 2025 was about RUB 181.7. In Moscow, the average per capita spending on such products did not exceed RUB 152, which, incidentally, is one of the lowest figures among the top regions of Russia. The minimum expenditure per resident among the ten federal subjects was recorded in Chelyabinsk Oblast (RUB 135.7) — consumers in the region spent RUB 459 million on enzyme preparations over the past year. It is noteworthy that out of 90 Russian regions, Creon leads in terms of monetary sales volume in 70, while alternative products top the list in only 20 federal subjects. Most notable in this regard are Saratov Oblast and Volgograd Oblast, where unbranded Pancreatin is the leader, with the largest volumes coming from products manufactured by Biokhimik (Sun Pharmaceutical group). Meanwhile, in Tver Oblast and Pskov Oblast, for example, the number one drug in the category is Festal from Sanofi.
