In 2025, Russian consumers purchased 2.09 million nebulizers on the retail market (including the e-commerce segment), with total spending reaching RUB 4.61 billion at retail prices, including VAT. For the first time in several years, sales of inhalation devices declined, both in value and in physical terms. Compared with 2024, unit sales of nebulizers decreased by 5.2%, while consumer spending on this category fell by 7.4%. Notably, the decline recorded last year affected not only traditional retail but also the online channel.

According to the “Audit of Retail Sales of Medical Devices in Russia (total sell-out)” database of the analytical company RNC Pharma, by the end of 2025 marketplaces accounted for almost 51% of total unit sales of inhalers in retail. The role of pharmacies and the FMCG channel in this category has significantly decreased in recent years. While in 2022 pharmacies generated more than 69% of nebulizer unit sales, by the end of 2025 their share had fallen to just 47%. It is important to note that in previous years online sales growth was consistently characterized by double-digit rates, whereas in 2025 negative dynamics were observed across all channels. At the same time, unit sales in e-commerce declined by only 1%, while in pharmacies the reduction reached 9%.

Interestingly, average prices for these devices have also been declining in recent years, though this trend was observed exclusively in the e-commerce segment. Compared with 2022, the average online price fell by more than RUB 800 to approximately RUB 1,500 per unit. In contrast, average prices in the pharmacy channel increased to RUB 2,900 per unit, although the cumulative growth over three years amounted to only RUB 60.

Around 70% of nebulizers sold at retail in 2025 were compressor-type devices, which accounted for 86% of the total market value. At the same time, their share has been gradually declining, while demand for ultrasonic mesh (MESH) devices continues to grow steadily. In 2025, MESH nebulizers were the only device type to demonstrate positive dynamics: unit sales increased by 14% year on year, while consumer spending on these devices grew by 11%. As a result, the unit share of MESH nebulizers rose to 26%.

The share of unbranded nebulizers on the Russian market in 2025 exceeded 24% in unit terms, while in value terms they accounted for no more than 7.4% of total sales. The absolute market leader by value was the Japanese company Omron, with a 28% share of retail sales in monetary terms. Swiss manufacturer B.Well ranked second with 22%, followed by Japan’s A&D with a 17% share. In total, more than 60 nebulizer brands from 10 countries were represented in Russian retail in 2025. The highest consumer spending was directed toward products of Japanese origin, which accounted for around 45% of the total market value.

In the reporting period, 55 companies were active on the retail nebulizer market. Over recent years, the number of market participants has increased by approximately ten players. Among the new entrants were U.S.-based Medical Technology and Russia’s Sinermed. The former introduced the Meditech compressor inhaler, while the latter launched Promedanz nebulizers in both compressor and MESH formats.
